The Mitsubishi Eclipse driving Four Generations of Fun |
Mitsubishi Eclipse popular model has had a history as rich as the rumble of his engine. In the 1970s, Mitsubishi did not sell very well in the U.S. market. But the emergence of Eclipse in 1989, reversed that trend. The new coupe sports a relatively unsuccessful foreign manufacturer made heads turn. Like many Japanese cars use, the Eclipse is lightweight, compact and relatively cheap, so it is a sport and a vehicle for the market interested in American imports.
Since then, Eclipse has been the subject of four model transformations. The first generation of Eclipse lay the groundwork for future generations, with a sleek, rounded nose tilted back. But not everything is, of course. The Eclipse Turbo was on Car and Driver magazine Top Ten list for 1989-1992.
The second generation Eclipse is certainly the eclipse icon. First introduced in 1995, the 2G Eclipse is a major upgrade in the style of the 1G. It's a ship all sharp angles boxy remnants of his predecessor, distinguishing himself as a smooth, curvy sports car ready for the new generation of style. It has even changed the engine and the turbo engine is more powerful than its predecessor, adding 15 hp. Another important addition was the Eclipse Spyder convertible model introduced in 1996 which gave Mitsubishi a different point of successful sale.
The third generation of a redesigned Eclipse is equally dramatic in terms of style. In fact, this eclipse was the first concept car shown by a Mitsbushi American auto show. This time, the Eclipse has a more rounded arch for the roof, headlights in the corners, and a look chiseled into the sides of the car. But there was much more to 3G Eclipse style transformation. The 3G is the first generation of Eclipse V6 engine of 3G is growing in its identity as a true sports car. But even with this crude boosting engine power, the V6 Eclipse is still touted as the car driving smoother than the previous four-cylinder turbo eclipse.
Since 2006, the fourth-generation Eclipse has become a reality. The design of this current generation of Eclipse has been described as more aggressive, with carbon fiber accents false. Like its predecessor, is a V6 model, and this time it produces 263 horses.
Just as the Eclipse style has been refined each generation, so has their performance. The spirit of the Mitsubishi Eclipse, however, lies in the complete history of this fascinating sport car.
